Information on compressing image and pdf files

- Compression of digitally signed documents removes the signature.
To see the size of the file you wish to attach, hover with your cursor over the file; after one second Windows will display file information including file size:
If the file is large, there are several ways to reduce it.
Reducing pdf files:
If the files have been scanned, scan again in black and white rather than color to make the file smaller.
To reduce pdf files, you may:
- Use online web services such as docupub
Upload the file and choose the compression level that reduces the file to the desired size but leaves it readable.
2. Download conversion software such as ToolRocket PDF Converter with which you may reduce file size.
Under PDF Compress, choose the desired level of file compression – normal or advanced – and the % compression to reduce the file to the desired size but leaves it readable.
Reducing image files:
Image files of type png/jpg/jpeg are typically large and can be reduced:
1. Free online file reduction services, such as websiteplanet or resizenow.
2. Free tools on your personal computer:
